Own Turf Equipment?
You need this 16 point checklist
As a turf equipment owner or operator, it is important to have a daily maintenance checklist to ensure your machine is in top shape every time you use it. By doing so, you will not only extend the life of your equipment but also ensure the safety of the operator and those around them. Here are some essential items that should be on your daily maintenance checklist for turf equipment:
1. Maintain proper Tire pressure on all wheels: Low tire pressure can lead to uneven cuts, damage to the turf, and add to fuel consumption.
2. Check Hydraulic hose pipes for cracks/leaks: A leaking or cracked hydraulic hose can cause major damage to your machine and damage the turf. Regular checks can prevent this from happening.
3. Always maintain a stock of Essential spare parts: Having spare parts readily available can save time and money in the event of a routine service & breakdown.
4. Check the condition of Belts and ensure it is properly tight: Loose or damaged belts can lead to slippage and uneven cutting.
5. Always allow the Engine to cool down before washing: Washing a hot engine can develop cracks in the engine block.
6. Always park the machine in a Shaded place after use: Exposure to direct sunlight can cause damage to the paint, plastic, hose pipes, & rubber parts.
7. Refill the fuel Tank after daily use: This practice saves time when working daily with your mower and is a great habit you should include in your routine.
8. Ensure proper Greasing in all grease fittings: Grease fittings should be checked and lubricated regularly to prevent wear and tear. This practice reduces the replacement time of rotating components by 50%.
9. Carry out scheduled Replacement of filters and, engine oil, and spark plugs on a timely basis: This will help maintain the engine’s performance and prevent expensive repairs down the line.
10. Proper washing After each use: This will help to prevent the buildup of debris and dirt, which can lead to clogs, malfunctions, and rusting of metal parts.
11. Always maintain the Sharpness of the reel and bed knife: A sharp reel and bed knife will ensure a clean, even cut and prevent damage to the turf and invite turf disease.
12. Ensure all the Safety switches are functioning properly: Safety switches should be checked regularly to ensure they are working properly to prevent any accidents.
13. Always check the Coolant level in the morning: Proper coolant levels are necessary to prevent overheating and engine damage.
14. Clean the Air filter daily basis: A dirty air filter can restrict airflow to the engine, resulting in poor performance and engine damage.
15. Ensure proper Reel-to-bedknife contact: Improper contact can cause damage to the turf and result in a poor after-cut appearance.
16. Check for the correct Engine oil level: Too little or too much engine oil can cause engine damage and decrease performance.
Simply by following these tips, you will see a massive difference in the performance of your machine.
